Escorpio

depth, transformation, intensity

Overview

**I desire.** Intensity: depth, the power of crisis, the force that passes through death to be reborn.

Mythology

The scorpion sent by Gaia to kill the hunter Orion was placed in the opposite side of the sky so the two would never meet -- even in death, Orion flees as Scorpio rises. Scorpio is also associated with the eagle and the phoenix in astrological tradition, symbols of the soul's capacity to die and be reborn. In many cultures the scorpion was linked to the underworld and to the guardians of hidden thresholds.

Interpretación

Scorpio is a water sign traditionally ruled by Mars and in modern astrology co-ruled by Pluto. It governs depth, psychological intensity, and the territory of what is hidden, shared, and transformative -- sex, death, power, and merged resources. Planets here operate with considerable emotional force and a drive to penetrate appearances. Scorpio's gift is psychological insight and the courage to face what others avoid; its shadow is control, jealousy, and a tendency toward vengeance.
