Urano

Uranus (Ouranos in Greek) was the primordial sky god, father of the Titans, who was eventually overthrown and castrated by his son Cronus at the instigation of Gaia. From his blood sprang the Furies and Aphrodite, symbols of the disruptive and creative energies unleashed by violent change. The planet was discovered in 1781, at the height of the Age of Enlightenment and the American and French Revolutions -- events it has since come to symbolise.

Uranus governs sudden change, innovation, and the urge to break free from established patterns. As a generational planet, its sign describes the collective spirit of rebellion and progress that shapes an entire cohort; its house in the natal chart reveals where the individual most strongly desires freedom and originality. Uranus transits often coincide with unexpected disruptions that ultimately serve as catalysts for liberation and new perspectives.
