Overview
**From Ouranos, the primordial sky. First planet discovered in modern times (1781), at the dawn of revolutions.** The need for freedom and the sudden break. Uranus marks where you refuse to fit a mold — where life forces awakenings, often through unexpected change.
Mythology
Uranus (Ouranos in Greek) was the primordial sky god, father of the Titans, who was eventually overthrown and castrated by his son Cronus at the instigation of Gaia. From his blood sprang the Furies and Aphrodite, symbols of the disruptive and creative energies unleashed by violent change. The planet was discovered in 1781, at the height of the Age of Enlightenment and the American and French Revolutions -- events it has since come to symbolise.
